Challenges: Airfields struggle to proactively manage safety risks, relying on reactive measures that are often insufficient for preventing incidents. Traditional security methods lack the real-time data and predictive capabilities needed to effectively identify and mitigate threats before they escalate, leaving airfields vulnerable to disruptions and potential harm. This inability to anticipate and prevent incidents jeopardizes aircraft, personnel, and infrastructure. Developing this application involved challenges integrating diverse data sources (radar, weather, drone detection), ensuring real-time data processing and accurate threat detection, and mitigating drone threats specifically. Furthermore, regulatory compliance, cost, weather interference, cybersecurity, and staff training were key considerations.
